Core Team Bios
Peter’s family has had a cottage on Lake Alice since 1939. He has been in that cottage every year of his life. He lived in the Rochester area until 2020 and moved to Waterport when the house next to the family cottage became available. During his career he sold over $200 million in computer products to large organizations and businesses starting in 1991. In 2012, he started Computer Systems Asset Disposal. He sold the company in 2020 and retired to the area. He and his wife love travelling and he has been to 41 U.S. States and 45 countries. In retirement, he has been on numerous Board of Directors for charitable organizations, he owns the travel web-site SeeNewYorkWithUs.com, and is a motivational speaker for Leadership Orleans teaching people how to achieve their life goals.
Heather Tabor
Born and raised in Carlton, NY, Heather Tabor grew up on a small fruit and vegetable farm, where she developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and rural communities. She earned a degree in Horticulture from Alfred State College and later moved to Hamburg, New York, to pursue a career in floral design.
After five years in Hamburg with her husband, James Tabor, Heather returned to her roots and became co-owner of Bertsch's Good Earth Market in Carlton. As a business owner, she combined her agricultural background with her passion for serving the local community while raising their daughter.
Following the sale of the family business, Heather focused her career on supporting the agricultural industry through farm and crop insurance. She is passionate about working with local farmers and helping them protect and sustain their operations.
A recent graduate of Leadership Genesee, Heather has expanded her commitment to community service and volunteerism. She actively supports organizations and initiatives including Wings Over Batavia, the GLOW 5K, Leadership Genesee, United Way Day of Caring, Carlton Hometown Days, and Carlton Community Heart & Soul. Through both her professional work and volunteer efforts, Heather remains dedicated to strengthening agriculture, supporting local communities, and making a positive impact throughout the region.
Peter Bartula
In 2002, Medina native, Lynne Menz returned to Orleans County from Rochester after a 14 year career in test engineering at GM and project management in the energy services industry. She is a graduate of SUNY Canton (‘79, AAS Mechanical Technology) and the University of Rochester (‘93, BA, Psychology)
Upon relocating to Point Breeze, she oversaw the renovation of her lakefront property and vacation rental - Lynne’s Landing - and built her graphic design business Lynne Menz Designs specializing in nautically themed designs for clients throughout the US.
From 2015 to 2025, she was contracted by Orleans County as the coordinator and creative director to promote tourism in Orleans County. She designed a variety of print and digital media including travel guides, logos, merchandise, a billboard on the NYS Thruway and eclipse glasses. Other notable clients include Leadership Orleans, the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum and Medina Area Partnership.
Lynne’s involvement with her community has been extensive, including:
Event Coordinator for the Wooden Boat Festival, 2004-2008.
Founding member of the Oak Orchard Neighborhood Association in 2009 serving as communications director, concert coordinator and event planner;
Administrator for the Orleans Renaissance Group, 2010-2015;
Medina Sandstone Society Board of Directors, 2016-2018 and 2026-present;
Supported the creation of the Company F Monument and Statue including branding, fundraising, and designed the website, bronze plaques and signage, 2008-2019;
Event planner for the Orleans County Heritage Festival, 2016-2021 and recipient of their Heritage Hero Award in 2019;
Founding board member of Friends of Orleans County Marine Parks, 2023-2026; and
Town of Carlton’s Community Heart & Soul Core Team, 2026.
In 2026, Lynne was honored with the Genean Lifetime Achievement Award from GO Art! for her contributions to the arts and culture of Orleans County.
